Qualifications

  • Experience in SaaS, tech or software is ideal.
  • Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and legal drafting is required.
  • Must be comfortable working autonomously in a high-growth environment.

Job description

Sole Legal Counsel role with a leading technology company.

Role Profile
  • You will be a confident and commercially minded legal professional, responsible for providing in-house legal support across the business.
  • Working closely with the CFO and wider leadership team, they will lead on contract negotiation, legal risk management and compliance.
  • This role requires sound judgement, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, partner and supplier contracts, and data processing agreements.
  • Provide legal input on regulatory and risk matters (UK, Australia and other territories).
  • Support procurement and contract lifecycle processes.
  • Advise on IP, licensing, and data privacy (including GDPR compliance).
  • Manage external counsel where appropriate (e.g. M&A, litigation, regulatory).
  • Maintain standard templates and ensure legal documentation is consistent and up to date.
  • Provide internal training and guidance on contract and legal risk matters.
  • Liaise with leadership on legal risk management and input into Board reporting as needed.
Key Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales, Scotland, or equivalent jurisdiction) ideally with experience in SaaS, tech or software.
  • Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and legal drafting.
  • Good knowledge of data protection (UK GDPR).
  • Able to operate autonomously and advise senior leadership with confidence.
  • Comfortable working in a high-growth, PE-backed environment.
