Job summary

A leading law firm in London seeks a Legal Cashier to join their finance team. The successful candidate will manage daily financial transactions while ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.   • Manage supplier invoices and payments.
  • Process staff expenses and reimbursements.
  • Respond to day-to-day finance queries.
  • Assist with external audits.
  • Help prepare and circulate finance reports.
  • Ensure accurate processing of disbursements.
  • Calculate client interest.
  • Keep up to date with SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Provide support to the Finance Director.

Job description

Totum is working with a leading law firm to recruit a Legal Cashier to join their finance team. Reporting to the Head Cashier, you will be involved in all day-to-day transactions across both client and office accounts, ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out office and bank reconciliations
  • Preparing client receipts and electronic payments
  • Handling cheque banking
  • Posting and reconciling credit card transactions
  • Processing and checking invoices
  • Supporting working capital management, including write-offs, disbursements, and credit notes
  • Managing supplier invoices and payments
  • Processing staff expenses and reimbursements
  • Responding to day-to-day finance queries
  • Assisting with external audits
  • Helping prepare and circulate finance reports, including cost and balance summaries
  • Ensuring accurate processing of disbursements (e.g. Counsel fees, Companies House, Land Registry, searches)
  • Calculating client interest
  • Keeping up to date with SRA Accounts Rules
  • Providing general support to the Finance Director and wider finance team

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Legal Cashier
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, client and office accounts, and AML regulations
  • Good time management skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach
