Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities and Qualifications

Air Balloon Hill Primary School is seeking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join our supportive and committed team. The successful candidates will be working in classrooms across the school with children of all ages and with a variety of SEND needs. The roles will also include opportunities to deliver evidence based interventions 1:1 or to small groups of pupils and a programme of emotional literacy interventions. We are looking for staff who are able to build positive relationships with pupils and have experience of working with children with a variety of needs.

The successful candidates will be well organised, have strong communication skills and will join a hard-working, committed team of supportive professionals. They will be able to demonstrate initiative, be flexible and will have a commitment to raising standards. The successful candidate will also have a range of effective, positive behaviour management skills.

Essential for the post: the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

These positions are fixed term until the 31st August 2026 pending a review of the staffing structure and SEND provision for the following academic year.

32.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday 8.30am 3.30pm with a 30-minute lunch break).

Term time only with the requirement to attend on two of the schools inset days.

Salary to be paid on the Bristol Grade 7 scale £26,824 - £28,142 (pro rata) - £13.90 - £14.58 per hour.

Starting date: As soon as possible in January 2026. Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 5th January 2026.
