Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for secondary schools in Greater Manchester. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to ensure inclusive education. Daily pay ranges from £95 to £135. Applicants must be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS and provide proof of their right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

Do you have experience supporting students with SEND, especially in secondary settings? Cover People are recruiting Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for secondary schools across Stockport, Tameside, and South Manchester, for both short and longer term placements. Schools place high value on inclusive education and student progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work one‑to‑one or in small groups with students with SEND
  • Support access to curriculum under teacher or SENCO direction
  • Assist with differentiation, scaffolding, and intervention materials
  • Monitor student progress, feedback to teachers / SENCO
  • Support behaviour management, social communication, and inclusion
  • Help supervise in‑class or in withdrawal settings
Essential Criteria
  • Experience working with children / young people, ideally in SEN contexts
  • Good communication and adaptability
  • Patience, empathy, and strong organisational skills
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies (e.g. scaffolding, differentiated support)
  • Right to work in the UK
