Job Title: Full-Time Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant (Drivers Required)

Location: Exeter, UK

Contract: Full-Time

Salary: £87 - £95 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team in Exeter. This is a full-time role where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on students' lives, supporting both their learning and emotional well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive full-time as travel may be required between settings.

As a Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may have experienced trauma or other emotional challenges, helping them build resilience, engage in learning, and thrive in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional emotional and educational needs.
  • Implement trauma-informed practices to create a supportive and safe learning environment.
  • Support students in building emotional regulation, social skills, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement effective strategies.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tailored lesson plans and learning resources.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff.
  • Support students in managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Full UK driving licence — must be a full-time driver.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a trauma-informed or SEN setting.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour.
  • Compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to student well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and creating a supportive classroom environment.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting children who have experienced trauma or adversity.
  • Knowledge of specific trauma-informed techniques and strategies.
