Overview

Lead Theatre Porter at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. DSFS Ltd are recruiting into the role.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department and will support the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. Key duties include facilitating timely movement of patients between wards and the Operating Department, and assisting with the movement and maintenance of equipment and materials within the department and the hospital in general. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collect blood as required.
  • Review the team rota on a day-to-day basis to ensure correct and safe staffing levels and appropriate skills mix.
  • Manage day-to-day leave and absence, including conducting return-to-work interviews up to and including stage 1 and 2 absence reviews.
  • Actively manage staffing, review the need for staff recruitment, workforce planning and succession planning in cooperation with the faculties manager and Theatre Matron.
  • Participate in recruitment processes, workforce planning and staff support for the ODO Team.
  • Ensure a nominated Team Leader to cover any absence and that they understand their role.
  • Monitor, action, investigate and implement changes from Datix reports.
  • Continuously review the service to identify areas for service improvement related to quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Represent the ODO Team at Theatre Workforce Meetings and other relevant forums.
