Job description
Job Overview

The post-holder will work within Central Cheshire NHS Talking Therapies service providing high volume, low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based guided self‑help interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The Talking Therapies service operates 08:00 am – 08:00 pm, and the successful applicant will be required to be flexible in their hours of working. The service offers the possibility of remote working for the successful candidate.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high volume, low intensity interventions such as a range of CBT‑based guided self‑help interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
  • Work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary.
  • Provide clinical supervision and case management to psychological wellbeing practitioners within the service.
  • Support the Step 2 Lead and Management Team to maintain service provision and development, and to meet and maintain key performance indicators.
  • Assist new starters with a fixed start date each month, in line with the Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme (up to 3 weeks of training).
  • Maintain a flexible working pattern within the service hours of 08:00 am to 08:00 pm, with the option of remote working.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Talking Therapies Post‑Graduate Certificate in evidence‑based psychological interventions OR a post‑graduate certificate in mental health in primary care.
  • UK professional registration of an appropriate level.
Desirable Criteria
  • Talking Therapies qualification in supervision.
  • Psychology degree, with knowledge of different models for understanding anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care.
  • Understanding of biopsychosocial assessment, referral management, record‑keeping and evidence‑based brief psychological interventions.
  • Experience working with clients in a primary care setting and within the Talking Therapies culture.
  • Good understanding of the Talking Therapies model and service delivery.
  • Ability to carry out a range of evaluation and monitoring techniques.
  • Ability to work through interpreters and significant experience dealing with common mental health problems.
  • Ability to manage own caseload efficiently and achieve agreed activity targets.
  • Post‑qualifying experience in offering and delivering evidence‑based Talking Therapies low‑intensity interventions; supervisory and mentorship role within Step 2 services.
  • Experience of line management and leadership or commitment to undertake a Trust training programme.
  • Experience dealing with child protection/vulnerable adult legislation issues.
  • Substantial experience of multidisciplinary teamwork and partnership working.
  • Service development experience.
