Lead Software Developer

Stevenage / Bristol

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a proactive and passionate Lead Software Developer to join their expanding Weapon Systems Simulation and Experimentation (WSSE) team. They deliver innovative solutions that provide an end-to-end representation of advanced weapon systems, making this a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of defence technology.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role working closely with Project Leads, Simulation Architects and the wider client project team. Youl lead the development of synthetic environments using the C family of programming languages, combining technical leadership with project management and team guidance.

The WSSE team is integral to weapon system and system architecture development across the full product life cycle. They integrate real products, models and synthetic environments to provide visualisations, demonstrations, verification and validation, as well as training support.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

• Grow your skills and support the full development lifecycle
• Develop a broad systems engineering perspective and drive technical innovation
• Work on world-leading defence systems from initial concepts to in-service support
• Utilise advanced visualisation techniques (AR/VR) and demonstrations
• Be part of a team driving experimentation and developing new capabilities for domestic and international customers
