Lead Procurement Officer Required

Contract Length: 3 months+

Location: Nottingham / Hybrid

Rate of Pay: Negotiable

Venn Group are looking for a Lead Procurement Officer to work for a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Lead the procurement of high-value contracts within an assigned sub-category (c.£25–75M per annum) in line with UK Procurement Legislation and Council Contract Procedure Rules
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex procurement exercises, ensuring compliance, governance, and risk management
  • Challenge service specifications and sourcing plans to ensure Value for Money and alignment with corporate strategy
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers and ensure robust commercial and contractual arrangements are in place
  • Support the Category Manager in developing procurement strategies, sourcing plans, and tender documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration across procurement activities
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability within all procurement and contracting practices
  • Manage and develop a small team of Procurement Officers and Assistants

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience leading end-to-end public sector procurement activities and tendering processes
  • Strong understanding of UK Public Procurement Regulations and Contract Procedure Rules
  • MCIPS qualification (or equivalent experience)
