Qualifications

  • Strong academic background with an appropriate engineering degree, ideally at master’s or PhD level.

Description

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team is driven by a bold vision to build a team capable of competing at the very front of the grid. To support this ambition, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead PIV Engineer to join our fast-paced, innovative Wind Tunnel Systems Group.

The successful candidate will take an active role within the Wind Tunnel team to promote, operate and develop the AMR GP Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) systems. Additionally you will be responsible for ensuring that the Aero team receive state of the art PIV data and provide consistent quality of output and maximum system uptime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Running the day to day operation of the Wind Tunnel and PIV Systems, including PIV output consultancy for Aero, map generation, calibrations, quality control and systems trouble shooting.
  • Be the PIV Subject Matter Expert and actively seek out and understand the needs of the Aero end users.
  • Continuously support the development of Wind Tunnel systems to meet the needs of the Aero department and the maximum uptime ethos.
  • Establish & maintain strong relationships with key external suppliers.
  • Regularly complete hardware maintenance and the maintenance of processes and procedures.
  • Complete continuous audits of the spares holding.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong academic background with an appropriate engineering degree, ideally at master’s or PhD level.
  • Previous experience of wind tunnel testing in a Formula One environment / high level Motorsport environment is preferred.
  • Proven experience of PIV system operation and development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB, and/or Python is preferred.
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a strong commitment to the project.
  • Have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.
  • Be results orientated and be confident in your decision-making skills.
  • Be enthusiastic, versatile and be able to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
