Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Lead Pharmacist for Frailty at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the Acute Frailty Unit and inpatient frailty wards. Your focus will be on developing and evaluating clinical pharmacy services tailored to the needs of the relevant specialty within the Medical Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain highly specialist knowledge in medicines used in the treatment of frail and elderly patients.
  • Provide a framework for the safe, effective, and economic use of medicine resources within the specialist clinical area.
  • Contribute to the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme under the direction of the Lead Pharmacist Antimicrobials.
  • Monitor, audit, and evaluate clinical pharmacy service provision, ensuring a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service in line with service objectives.
  • Prescribe in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, subject to necessary qualifications.

  • Proven experience in clinical pharmacy services, with a focus on frailty and elderly patient care.
