Lead Mechanical Engineer

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a leading subsea and marine engineering business based in Newcastle to drive innovative solutions across challenging subsea and marine projects.

In this role, you will:

• Lead engineering projects from concept to delivery
• Mentor and support junior engineers
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and suppliers
• Own the design and development of complex subsea and marine equipment

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer:

• As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical design of subsea and marine equipment for cable and pipeline projects
• Produce and review 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation
• Perform structural stress calculations to validate designs
• Take technical ownership of projects from concept to delivery as the Lead Mechanical Engineer
• Mentor and support junior engineers
• Liaise directly with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors

Experience & Skills Required of the Lead Mechanical Engineer:

• Minimum 5 years' relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD design skills.
• Background in subsea or marine equipment design projects
• Competent in structural stress calculations.
• Confident in client-facing and supplier-facing interactions.
• Experience from subsea, offshore, or marine engineering environments is highly desirable.

Full time & permanent - 40 hours/week Mon-Friday & hybrid working.
