Job summary

A leading engineering & environmental consultancy is seeking a Lead Environmental Consultant on a contract basis in Knutsford, UK. In this role, you will act as the technical lead across various environmental projects, focusing on permitting, legislation, and completing crucial studies including air quality and flood risk. Ideal candidates will have substantial consultancy experience, a relevant degree, and knowledge of UK regulations. This is a contract position outside IR35, with competitive daily rates.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in environmental consultancy, particularly within highly regulated industries.
• Experience in projects related to decarbonisation.
• Possession of a UK Right to Work and a driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead across environmental work packages.
• Advise on legislation and deliver permitting and planning applications.
• Complete studies such as air quality, flood risk and containment.

Skills

Strong consultancy or industrial experience in environmental regulation

Knowledge of UK permitting & compliance (IED, BAT)

Ability to lead assessments and manage multiple project tasks

Education

Degree in an environmental discipline; professional membership preferred
