We are a private practice based in the heart of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Looking for a Lead Dental Nurse to join our growing team. This role would ideally suit a highly experienced Dental Nurse looking for career progression. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of specialist areas such as Implants, Endodontics and Orthodontics.

Job Summary

To provide the highest quality dental nursing support to clinicians. To provide support and team direction to team members and follow systems in place. To report to the Head of Operations. The dental nurse will be expected to work with minimum supervision, using their own initiative, and carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the practice and so aid the dental staff to maximise the use of their time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out surgery inspections and provide feedback and action plans to staff members. This must be followed up before the next inspection.
  • Carry out audits to comply with cross infection, surgery checks and medical histories.
  • Monitor team members performance and give feedback to the practice manager.
  • Carry out stock checks in surgeries.
  • Carry out nurse’s meetings, raise any concerns/improvements required and follow this up. Provide any training that may be required.
  • Set an example to other team members. If you are free, create tasks such as offering help in other surgeries, helping on reception and carrying out extended duties.
  • Check the exterior of the practice each morning and ensure the team member responsible is carrying out the duty to a high standard.
  • Feedback improvements both staff and practice related to the practice manager.
  • Monitor clinical waste system.
  • Be knowledgeable about what standards are expected to comply with CQC regulations and HTM1-05.
  • Perform any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Practice Manager or Principals.
  • Offer support to the trainee dental nurse and arrange suitable training when needed.
  • Chairside support for clinicians.
  • Recording of treatment including charting from the dentist’s instructions and other associated clerical work.
  • Preparation of filling materials, impression materials, instruments and equipment.
