A leading healthcare trust in the United Kingdom is seeking a Mortuary Manager to oversee facilities at East Surrey Hospital. Responsibilities include managing the mortuary staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing leadership in day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in mortuary services, strong organizational skills, and necessary professional registration. This role offers a salary between £47,810 and £54,710 per year, with full-time permanent contract conditions.
To manage the mortuary facilities and services of the East Surrey Hospital and all staff within. To ensure a safe, clean and compliant mortuary able to meet the needs of all service users from relatives to HM Coroner for Surrey. To ensure capacity is managed and to provide an on‑call service for advice, viewings and forensic post‑mortem examinations. To maintain and provide all documentation pertaining to Human Tissue Authority (HTA), in order to retain HTA licence on site.
The post holder will be the professional head of the mortuary staff, working closely with the Designated Individual for the HTA and the Network Mortuary operations Manager. The post holder will lead and be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of staff and resources in the ESH Mortuary, providing technical lead and expertise, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, gradings, skill mix, equipment and work practices to maintain standards required by HTA and other regulatory requirements. The postholder will also prepare bodies for viewing, maintain training facilities and systems, and develop policies and procedures relevant to Mortuary services. Cross‑site cover for all other BSPS sites is provided when necessary.
