A prominent health board in Wales is seeking a Registrar Grade doctor to support its Nephrology Team. The role involves providing care to renal inpatients, learning procedures, and participating in audits. Ideal candidates should be working towards MRCP, have valid ALS, and possess adequate IT skills. The contract covers parental leave until August 2026. Full-time position with an attractive salary package.
Is looking for a Registrar Grade doctor to support the Nephrology Team. The Nephrology inpatients are predominantly on one Ward which has 25 beds. There is also an on-site dialysis unit that dialyses in the region of 70 patients, along with 2 satellite dialysis units dialysing approximately a further 60 patients. The department has 5 renal consultants and an associate specialist. Ordinarily there are 2 renal registrars. Wrexham is a training centre as part of the All Wales Renal Training Programme.
The renal ward has a mixture of general medical and renal patients and includes a 4 bedded high care area. Haemodialysis is delivered on the renal ward for acute patients. There are daily consultant ward rounds and many learning opportunities. The Registrar Grade will see referrals from other specialties and take over care as and when needed. The doctor will have the opportunity to learn practical renal procedures such as dialysis line insertion and renal biopsies. They will also have the opportunity to play an active role in the clinic management of patients with chronic kidney disease and renal transplant recipients in clinic. Review of patients on the haemodialysis unit will also be part of the role.
There will be opportunities for audit and quality improvement projects within the role. The contract is to cover parental leave until August 2026 period. For further information please see enclosed job description.
