Job summary

A recruitment agency is excited to help a client in Frome find a Laboratory Manager for a permanent role. This position involves managing laboratory activities, performing tests, and ensuring compliance with standards. The ideal candidate will possess experience in FMCG environments, have a continuous improvement mindset, and have management experience. The role is site-based from Monday to Friday, and offers a salary of £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

Job description

Thrive Group are delighted to be working with our client in Frome, who are actively seeking to engage a Laboratory Manager to join the company on a permanent basis.

What you will be doing:
  • Managing a team and all activities related to laboratory testing, including taking action on non‑conforming results of microbiological or chemical analysis.
  • Performing laboratory tests as required, calibrating and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Taking action following customer audits and complaints.
  • Keeping the laboratory organised and in compliance with internal and external LAB CRED accreditation.
  • Monitoring and managing laboratory KPI.
  • Line management for laboratory team – completion of appraisals and further developing a department training matrix.
What you will need to succeed:
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a FMCG Production / Manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous improvement approach.
  • Management or supervision of a small / medium team.
  • Experience in analytical and microbiological laboratory work.
  • Experience of Laboratory Management Systems accreditation.
What you will receive in return:
  • Monday to Friday 08.30AM to 17.30PM (100% site‑based role).
  • £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
