Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Web Application Development is an industry-focused online qualification that equips learners with the practical skills and theoretical understanding necessary to design, build, test and deploy full web applications. Learners gain experience across front-end and back-end technologies, responsive design, frameworks like Django, data storage and databases, user authentication, APIs, automated testing, and more.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Strong coding skills: proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python
  • A relevant degree (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development) or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (courses, certifications, self projects etc)
  • Experience using frameworks such as Django (or similar MVC frameworks); knowledge of React or other front-end frameworks is a plus
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases
  • Experience with software testing (manual and/or automated, version control (e.g. Git), APIs, user authentication
  • Ability to teach/explain code, architectures, debugging, responsive design, best practices, performance, security
  • Good standard of English; strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to design assessments / milestone projects aligned to learning outcomes
  • Prior experience teaching at Level 5 / Higher Education / Further Education or in a bootcamp environment (desirable)
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, labs, workshops and assessments aligned with the curriculum, including the four built-in milestone projects
  • Provide student support: mentoring, code reviews, feedback on assignments, answering queries, helping with debugging and problem solving
  • Use the learning management system (LMS) & Code Institute content and platform for delivery; ensure students stay engaged, track their progress, identify learners needing extra support
  • Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement, incorporating best practices, keeping up to date with web development trends & frameworks
  • User-Centric Frontend Development (responsive design, content layout, accessibility)
  • Interactive Frontend Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, handling user input, debugging / manual testing)
  • Data-Centric Back-end Development (Python, working with relational & non-relational databases)
  • Full Stack Frameworks (Django / Python MVC frameworks, APIs, authentication, e-commerce functionality, persistent storage, automated testing)
