Job description

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction. Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair and open atmosphere. We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias, because we want everyone to feel that they belong. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common mind-set. We recognise that one size does not fit all. Our goal is to embed flexibility across our firm by giving everyone the opportunity to work in an agile way, whether as a regular pattern or on an ad hoc basis, and we will be happy to discuss this further.

  • Monitoring global competition law and foreign investment control trends and developments, as well as recent cases - primarily at UK and EU level. Sources used to complete these tasks will include the regulators' websites, PLC and Mlex.
  • Performing various legal research tasks, including to assist writing blog posts and other thought leadership pieces, and helping to prepare presentations and other materials for internal and external use.
  • Sanitising confidential documents to produce non-confidential versions, ready to be uploaded to the firm's internal know-how database.
  • Curating the group's know-how intranet page and maintaining and updating various internal resources.

The AFIG K&L team works with the global practice (of around 170 lawyers, led by 31 partners) and has 2-3 lawyers based in London (plus 2 legal assistants), 1 in Paris, 2 in Brussels and 1 in Dusseldorf. In London, the K&L team (including the 2 legal assistants) works closely together and with the rest of the practice. Linklaters partner with a third-party provider for the payroll of all contractor and temporary staff. Therefore, upon acceptance of a temporary role at Linklaters, you will be engaged under a contract for services through our preferred third-party provider. You will not be employed by Linklaters, or have any employment or worker relationship with Linklaters.
