Kitchen Manager (Maternity Cover)

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)

Reporting To: Culinary Director/Co-founder

About Us: At Rocket Food, we are passionate about delivering exceptional culinary experiences. Our dedicated team works hard to uphold our reputation in the luxury hospitality industry. We are currently seeking a proactive and organized Kitchen Manager to join our team on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Role Overview

As Kitchen Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our kitchen administration team, ensuring smooth operations in line with company guidelines. This role requires excellent organisational skills, leadership capabilities, ability to perform in a high-pressure environment, and a commitment to maintaining our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily kitchen management, ensuring orders are placed and received through the FoodBuy system
  • Implement and uphold Rocket’s HACCP guidelines, ensuring all procedures are followed accurately
  • Manage Back of House agency bookings, timesheets, and absences
  • Maintain Rocket’s databases, filing systems, and administrative records, including holiday tracking, event updates, and rota planning
  • Operate Compass-provided systems such as Origami, AIR3, People Works, Event Works, and Our Time
  • Support the operational team by reporting and scheduling repairs and maintenance
  • Manage and implement updates to the Check-it due diligence system
  • Assist Staffing and HR teams with new employee onboarding and inductions
  • Input and manage kitchen recipes within the Source system
  • Ensure kitchen areas are safe and report hazardous situations immediately
  • Supervise kitchen porters in daily housekeeping duties
  • Conduct monthly Safety Conversation training in line with HSE updates
  • Maintain up-to-date workplace safety and food safety documentation
  • Foster positive relationships within the kitchen and across other teams, promoting Rocket’s team spirit
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of allergens and food safety practices
Monitoring and Support

You will receive regular catchups with your line manager and participate in twice-yearly appraisals to track your progress and achievements.
