Job Title: Junior Software Developer - Central Systems
Location: Hybrid (Upper-Heyford office three days per week)

Role Summary

This is a junior software developer role focused on building internal systems that integrate data across finance and operations. You will be responsible for writing production-grade Python, building ETL pipelines, integrating APIs, and developing internal tools that support reporting, analytics, and automation across the Group.

The role sits at the centre of the organisation and is focused on shipping clean, auditable, well-structured code that helps the business scale. It is ideal for someone with strong Python and SQL fundamentals, an interest in internal tooling and infrastructure, and a desire to take ownership of problems end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities
Internal Software Development
  • Write clean, well-structured Python code to support internal tooling and workflows
  • Build reusable modules for transforming and validating operational and financial data
  • Maintain clear documentation and version-controlled codebases using Git
Integrations & Data Pipelines
  • Build and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Ingest data from APIs, flat files, databases, and third-party platforms
  • Implement validation, reconciliation, and error-handling logic to ensure data reliability
Internal Tools & Dashboards
  • Develop dashboards and internal tools (e.g. using Plotly Dash or similar)
  • Support internal reporting by producing structured datasets from multiple sources
  • Work with stakeholders to turn requirements into working, testable outputs
Infrastructure & Development Practices
  • Follow structured development workflows and best practices
  • Set-up cloud deployment resources, access control, orchestration
  • Assist in the development of scalable internal systems as the group expands
Qualifications & Experience
  • Up to 3 years’ experience, or exceptional graduate-level capability
  • Good working knowledge of SQL and relational data structures
  • Experience building or contributing to ETL / ELT pipelines
  • Familiarity with APIs and ingesting external data sources
  • Interest in infrastructure / platform work
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
