Job summary

A local IT company in Derry/Londonderry is seeking a Junior IT Support Engineer. This position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced support environment, being the first point of contact for technical issues. Ideal candidates should have a passion for IT, strong communication skills, and basic troubleshooting knowledge. You will assist users in resolving problems and support new staff with their IT setup. This role offers flexible working hours up to 25 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current UK Driving licence.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role.
  • Experience with basic troubleshooting (even personal or school projects).

THE EMPLOYER IS: JSE COMPUTING LTDWe’re looking for an individual to join our IT team as a Junior IT Support Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting their career in IT, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced support environment. You’ll be the first point of contact for technical issues, helping users resolve problems and keeping systems running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1st line technical support via phone, email, and ticketing system.
  • Log, track, and escalate incidents and service requests.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist with setting up user accounts, devices, and applications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support activities.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and escalate complex issues to 2nd line support.
  • Support onboarding of new staff with IT setup and orientation.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Interest in IT and technology.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of computers, software, and networks.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role.
  • GCSEs or equivalent; IT-related qualifications are a plus but not required.
  • Must have a current UK Driving licence.
  • Having access to your own transportation would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office and Hardware.
  • Experience with basic troubleshooting (even personal or school projects).
  • Any IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA ITF, Google IT Support).
