Overview of role:
We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Junior Business Analyst to drive the development of digital skills and capabilities across RLB. In this role, You will be part of a team responsible for engaging with the business on behalf of the IT project team to understand their needs and translating this into requirements IT can use to develop solutions.
Role Responsibilities:
Project Initiation
- Supporting the Project Manager and the business in producing the business case, in particular ensuring benefits align to strategic and tactical business objectives.
- Supporting the Project Manager and the business in business, technical and financial feasibility assessments.
Requirements Gathering
- Working with the business to capture and document requirements (both functional and non-functional) using a range of techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, sites visits, use cases, scenario modelling, task and workflow analysis.
- Ensuring requirements are concise, complete, specific, unambiguous and that they are aligned to the strategic and tactical goals of the project and the business.
- Combining all requirements into a clear, managed, prioritised backlog.
- Refining these requirements to a sufficient level of detail to allow Solution Architects and Application Developers to implement appropriate solutions.
- Providing refined requirements into project iterations in time to allow design/delivery to commence.
- Managing the scope and traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that they are understood by the project team and met by the delivered solution.
Process Modelling
- Discovering and documenting the as-is process by applying various process modelling techniques.
- Identifying high level solution options for the business and presenting these to stakeholders.
- Designing and modelling the to-be process, performing gap analysis and identifying areas for improvement.
- Working with the Data/Enterprise Architect, ensuing business processes are aligned with the business and IT architecture.
- Reviewing, and signing off solution designs, ensuring business requirements are verified, validated and delivered.
Test
- Working with the project test team to provide business input into test strategy, system test plans, system test conditions and UAT plans.
- Co-ordinating UAT with the business.
- Reviewing and signing off test scripts to ensure requirements are fully tested and met by the delivered solution.
Change Management (where required)
- Ensuring the benefits, impact and release of all changes are tracked and managed and also communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensuring end users and IT support teams are fully trained to use, support and maintain the application/solution.
Projects Support
- Providing subject matter expertise on the business unit and associated processes and systems to all relevant team members.
- Assisting the Project Manager in identifying and managing risks, issues and dependencies.
- Assisting the team in resolving any questions related to requirements or process.
- Delivering the required documentation during each stage of the project.
- Supporting the supplier/hardware/software selection process by providing input into the RFI and RFP and assisting in the assessment of responses against requirements.
- Supporting the review of contracts drawn up with any 3rd party suppliers to ensure that they accurately reflect the needs of the business.
- Supporting the Project Manager in post-implementation reviews and incorporating lessons learned into future work.
- Flexibility to support multiple projects at any one time.
Qualifications/Experience- Degree in Business or similar qualification.
- Commercial experience (e.g., placement or apprenticeship) is a plus.
- Any experience in Construction desirable.
