Job description
What You’ll Do
  • Support the Merchandising team in maintaining strong relationships with core suppliers and shareholders.
  • Assist senior team members with supplier cost price, lead time and payment term discussions.
  • Help prepare and update stock and sales performance reports, identifying key trends and opportunities under guidance.
  • Work closely with the team to monitor pricing across categories to ensure we remain competitive while protecting profitability.
  • Develop an understanding of product performance by learning about our ranges, competitors and the wider retail market.
  • Collaborate with departments across the business to support sales, profit and effective stock management.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback on how to improve product performance, checking reviews and supporting with product improvement initiatives.
  • Provide general administrative and analytical support to the Merchandising team as needed.
  • Analyse sales trends, inventory levels, and production schedules to create purchase orders and maintain inventory levels within a specific budget.
  • Ensure continuous product availability by proactively forecasting demand and managing inventory levels to prevent out-of-stock occurrences.
What You’ll Bring
  • Ideally 6–12 months’ experience in a merchandising, buying, or purchasing role (internship or placement experience also welcomed).
  • Interest in developing strong supplier relationships — previous exposure to overseas suppliers, particularly in East Asia, would be beneficial.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to learn and grow within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel to maintain ordering spreadsheets and create reports of stock and sales trends, and confident with other Microsoft programs.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling data or reports.
  • Willingness to learn about negotiation and commercial decision‑making.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively under guidance in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Highly organised, motivated and eager to support the wider team’s success.
  • Some familiarity or interest in learning about WSSI tools and category planning.
