This role involves leading the engagement of children and young people, particularly those in care, to ensure their voices are heard in decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will manage staff, work collaboratively with various sectors, and drive improvements in service delivery. The position includes flexible working arrangements and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
We are looking for an inspiring and passionate individual with a deep commitment to the rights of children and young people. You should have a proven track record in leading participation and engagement projects and be confident in working with a range of stakeholders, creative, independent, and able to manage staff, your diary and strategic priorities effectively.
Join Walsall Council's Children's Services as a Children and Young Persons Champion during an exciting time of change. Following our recent "Outstanding" rating from OFSTED, we are dedicated to building on this success and putting the voices of children and young people at the heart of our continued development.
The opportunity: You will be a key leader in coordinating the engagement and participation of Walsall's children, young people, and their families. You will empower young people, particularly those who are in the care journey, care experienced or leaving care, to influence strategy and service provision. This role involves strategic, multi‑agency work with partners across health, education, and other sectors to ensure that children's rights are upheld and their voices are heard. We will refresh the Children in Care Council (CiCC) and expand its membership to ensure wider representation.
