Overview

Position: Female Personal Assistant / Care Assistant

Job reference: JD12/12/KE

Hours

12¼ hours a week, worked over 7 days, two calls a day:

  • Tea-time call: 1 hour, to be set between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm (exact time to be agreed at interview).
  • Bed-time call: 45 minutes at 8:30 pm.

Additional cover hours may be available when the Employer’s other Personal Assistant is on annual leave and/or sick leave.

Rate and Area

Rate: £12.21 per hour

Area: Kettering (NN15 Area)

About the employer

The employer is a Gentleman in his eighties, living in his own home in Kettering. He has mild dementia, diabetes and various other health issues.

Main duties
  • Tea-time call: prepare a sandwich or light meal and refreshments. The Employer is able to eat independently but may need prompting; provide supervision while he eats. Clean and tidy the kitchen afterwards as required.
  • Bed-time call: support the Employer to get ready for bed, ensure night clothes are on, assist with personal care as required, ensure he has a sleep mask and is comfortable and settled.
  • Any other task within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant, reasonably requested by the Employer.
Experience and qualifications
  • Experience in dementia care would be desirable.
Additional employment information

The Employer is charming in nature and does not present any challenging behaviours. However, he can occasionally be very blunt in language. The ability to be firm whilst calm and friendly is essential.

Must be flexible, trustworthy and with a good sense of humour.
