Job description
iOS Developer

About AutoEntry: AutoEntry saves accountants and small businesses hours of manual work by automatically extracting data from invoices, receipts, bank statements and expenses, then posting it straight into accounting software using web and desktop APIs. We process millions of invoices and bank statements every month, serving both B2B and B2C customers across the UK, France, Canada and beyond. Our iOS app lets users snap documents on the go, with smart features like auto-cropping using the Vision framework and background uploads.

The Role

You’ll own the iOS experience for AutoEntry, working in a cross‑functional front‑end team alongside Android, web and backend engineers. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll ship features that reach 1,000+ daily active users, with real autonomy to shape the app’s technical direction. The codebase is modern and well‑architected: SwiftUI for UI, MVVM + Clean Architecture, Combine for reactive flows, and a protocol‑driven design that makes testing straightforward. We’re mid‑way through a UIKit → SwiftUI migration, so you’ll have the chance to modernise as you build. You’ll also connect with Sage’s wider iOS community – sharing knowledge, contributing to internal SDKs, and learning from engineers across the organisation. Hybrid position – working 3 days a week from our Manchester office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and ship features in Swift using SwiftUI, Combine and modern iOS frameworks
  • Integrate with backend services via REST APIs (AWS, Alamofire, Sage networking SDKs)
  • Work with Vision framework features like document scanning and OCR
  • Improve app performance, accessibility and reliability
  • Write unit and UI tests; maintain a clean, testable codebase
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, Android and web engineers
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews
  • Help shape technical decisions and mentor junior team members
Must have
  • 3-5 years of professional iOS development experience
  • Strong Swift skills; comfortable with SwiftUI and UIKit
  • Experience with Combine or similar reactive approaches
  • Familiarity with MVVM, Clean Architecture or similar patterns
  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and handling network state
  • Solid understanding of Git workflows
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Nice to have
  • Experience with CoreData, Vision framework, or camera/image processing
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (we use automated builds + Firebase distribution)
  • App Store publishing and certificate management
  • Exposure to XCTest, XCUITest or snapshot testing
  • Knowledge of Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or feature flagging
What You'll Get
  • Ownership of a production iOS app used daily by thousands of customers
  • A modern Swift codebase with room to influence architecture and tooling
  • Cross‑functional team with exposure to Android, web and backend
  • Connection to Sage’s broader iOS engineering community
  • Hybrid working from our Manchester office (3 days per week)
