About the Role and Team
As the Director of International Markets Analysis at eBay, you will lead the strategy to better understand eBay’s customers and business across International Markets (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Australia). You will work closely with senior business leaders to build AI‑powered, data‑driven solutions that uncover insights and drive customer engagement. This high‑visibility role is part of the Global Customer Data Science team, designed for a hands‑on leader who thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments.
What You Will Accomplish
- Provide consultative, thought leadership to global senior leaders supporting International Markets.
- Lead and encourage the science & insights strategy to proactively help eBay better understand customers and each market’s business.
- Supervise and lead data science analytics teams dedicated to International Markets.
- Devise methodologies and approaches to explore data and discover the right science solutions needed.
- Balance deep solution work with executive‑summary presentations that clarify the “why” behind science and data.
- Collaborate extensively with key partners in Global Analytics and Global Customer Insights to connect internal and external views of customers.
- Lead the creation of regular updates to executive leadership on the health of the eBay customer base, spotting opportunity areas and driving growth strategies.
- Apply data analysis and scientific interpretation as a tool to develop balanced, enduring solutions for the business.
- Guide eBay’s data efforts and enjoy applying research to real‑world problems.
What You Will Bring
- Master’s degree or above in a quantitative field (statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, economics, engineering).
- 12+ years of experience in customer data science or analytics roles, including 5+ years leading teams.
- Consistent track record building analytical products and data‑science driven programs.
- Deep understanding of customer data, customer analytics, and data‑science techniques, including evaluating ML models with custom metrics and robust frameworks.
- Excellent logical, analytical, and conceptual skills.
- Strong grasp of experimental design and statistics.
- Data‑driven decision‑making mindset.
- Effective communication abilities and capacity to influence cross‑functional collaborators, including C‑level executives.
- Bold, proactive approach; able to adjust to new challenges and complete tasks in uncertain situations.
- Startup mindset—comfortable with ambiguity, bias for action, and fast iteration.
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG techniques (preferred).
