Interim Legal Operations Consultant

Location: Bristol (with occasional UK travel)

Start: ASAP for approximately 3 months

A national law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Consultant to support a short‑term transformation project. The assignment begins with a focused four‑week review of current processes, resourcing, technology and data, followed by deeper optimisation work across several legal services teams.

The role

You'll lead a structured assessment of how legal services are currently delivered, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Work will include:

  • Reviewing existing materials and operational data
  • Interviewing and shadowing key stakeholders
  • Evaluating process, technology and resourcing models
  • Presenting recommendations to senior leadership
  • Developing a high‑level implementation plan
Person specification
  • Strong understanding of e‑discovery and document review workflows, including modern tech and AI tools
  • Experience within legal operations, shared services, or similar environments
  • Background in legal consulting, including scoping, planning and stakeholder engagement
  • Familiarity with onshore/offshore resourcing models and cost levers
  • Ability to work independently and deliver clear, actionable insights
