What you will do
  • Ensure Surrey County Council’s Adult Social Care services are compliant with national safeguarding statutes and regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between Surrey County Council’s Children, Schools and Families directorate and the Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative data to inform managers about performance benchmarks locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Lead the quality assurance framework for Adult Social Care services, collaborating with health partners for assurance of care standards.
  • Identify weak practices and strategise improvements, driving performance to be on par with similar authorities.
  • Lead the work at Surrey Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB), chair and contribute to sub-groups, and implement its strategic plan.
  • Deliver training and presentations for Surrey County Council staff and partner agencies.
  • Champion innovative integration initiatives and place-based safeguarding models with partners.
  • Manage safeguarding risk registers, ensure ethical practices with AI, digital surveillance, and data sharing.
  • Drive co-production with individuals with lived experiences and integrate learning into commissioning cycles and contract monitoring.
  • Promote equity and inclusion in safeguarding responses, focusing on underrepresented groups.
  • Develop leadership capabilities within the safeguarding workforce.
Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification with management experience in complex environments.
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation, practice standards, and wider sector awareness.
  • Skills in change management, project management, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced leadership and team development skills, along with strong negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets and resources, with an ability to assess risks and benefits effectively.
