Job summary

A renowned London Local Authority seeks an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Repairs, Maintenance & Planned works team. The candidate will manage decisions about the housing stock, budgetary oversight, and health and safety. A thorough knowledge of building contracts and regulations is essential, alongside project management skills. This is an interim role with a pay rate of £350-£400 per day.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of building contracts is essential.
• Experience with the Party Wall Act is preferred.
• Strong understanding of repairs practice and planning required.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of building regulations.
• Detailed knowledge of structural engineering principles necessary.
• Experience in project management is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Make decisions on the maintenance of housing stock.
• Manage budgets and health & safety oversight.
• Prioritize cases based on business and resident needs.
• Collaborate with other departments for service integration.
• Manage complaints and ensure high service performance.

Overview

Exciting Interim opportunity to work for one of the more renowned London Local Authorities.

Currently this client is in need of an experienced Building Surveyor with a successful track record working within the Housing sector to join our Repairs, Maintenance & Planned works team.

Responsibilities

• The Senior Surveyor will have expertise to make day-to-day decisions on the maintenance of the Council's housing stock.
• Work to demanding performance standards, maintain close control over budgets & close oversight of the health and safety are the key demands of the job.
• Balance workload and prioritise cases according to the needs of the business and residents.
• Co-operate closely with other departments in the council to provide a joined-up service to residents.
• Effective management of complaints and casework to guarantee the high performance of the service.

Essential Experience

• Thorough knowledge of building contracts
• A thorough working knowledge of the Party Wall Act and make awards on behalf of the council or clients.
• Thorough knowledge of repairs practice and planning.
• Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of building construction and Building regulations.
• Detailed knowledge of structural engineering and the Housing Construction and Regeneration Act.
• Project Management
• MCIOB or MRICS ideal but not required
