Infrastructure Migration Engineer Red Hat 5 / 6 (Contract outside IR355) - Hybrid

We are seeking a specialist Infrastructure Migration Engineer to support the Physical to Virtual (P2V) migration of legacy Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 & 6 servers as part of a wider remediation initiative. This engagement is critical due to internal resource constraints and compatibility limitations with Red Hat 6 requiring expert intervention to ensure a secure and effective transition to supported platforms.

Location : Preston (Hybrid)

Contract Type : 3 Months

Start Date : Immediate

Sector : IT Infrastructure / Server Migration

Rate : Competitive based on experience (Outside IR35)

UK Right to work : Must have full UK RTW and 5 year address history in UK to pass all background checks required

Scope of Work
  • Assess and validate viable P2V strategies for RHEL6 servers
  • Attempt migration of two RHEL6 servers to Hyper‑V
  • Confirm boot success driver compatibility and system integrity post‑migration
  • Document a repeatable P2V process and tooling (e.g., Disk2VHD Clonezilla)
  • Deliver remaining server migrations using the approved method
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support access control and data migration
  • Assist with post‑migration testing and acceptance
  • Install standard security tooling on all migrated and rebuilt VMs
