Information Assurance Specialist

for a 12 Month contract based in Derby (3 days per week on‑site).

The Role & Responsibilities

The Information Assurance Specialist will provide cyber security, information assurance, and compliance oversight across the programme.

Working as part of a wider information security team, you will ensure that solutions are designed and delivered in line with the clients security policies, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on assurance rather than delivery, providing guidance, challenge, and governance to delivery teams throughout the solution lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide cyber security and information assurance direction to programme and delivery teams.
  • Ensure solutions are designed and built in line with internal security policies, standards, and ISO frameworks.
  • Support policy compliance and assurance activities across SaaS and on‑premise systems.
  • Identify, assess, and manage information security risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation and documentation.
  • Define and review security controls, including identity, access management, and data protection.
  • Coordinate penetration testing with third‑party providers and support remediation activities.
  • Contribute to security design reviews, threat modelling, and assurance documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other information security specialists and delivery teams.
  • Provide clear security status updates, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities, Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in an Information Assurance, Cyber Security, or Information Security role.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (e.g. ISO 27001) and enterprise security frameworks.
  • Experience supporting security assurance across SaaS and on‑premise environments.
  • Understanding of risk management, security controls, and access management.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting penetration testing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix‑managed, team‑based environment.
Desirable
  • SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of aviation, manufacturing, or asset‑intensive industries.
  • Familiarity with third‑party/vendor risk management.
