Job description

Data is a key component to the monitoring and success of Research and Innovation (R&I) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), keeping stakeholders informed about progress and activity. As part of the Data Team, the post-holder will be responsible for supporting the transition between and implementation of research management systems, both from a technical database standpoint and a user support point of view. Facilitating the migration to ensure the Data Team can continue to produce, develop and promote of a range of information and analysis services to meet the reporting requirements of R&I, and Research Delivery Teams can continue to manage the set up, approval, conduct and governance of clinical research at MFT.

  • To manage and ensure that robust and accurate information management systems are in place to maintain the continued production of reports reflecting the Trust’s research status for both performance management and reports to the DHSC and other external bodies as required.
  • To work closely with the R&I operational team to ensure that continued analytical support to determine future pressures against key deliverables, particularly in relation to external contracts and locally commissioned targets.
  • To conduct analytical work within R&I to ensure continued assessment of capacity and demand for research services, identifying areas of opportunity, undertaking gap and demand analysis and support the production of option appraisals.
  • To ensure continued provision of analysis on issues relating to activity-based research income and its implications in terms of activity deliverables and effect upon RCF and CRN funding.
  • To identify sources of information regarding the Trust, regional and national performance in clinical research, and to ensure continued ability within the team to design and produce regular reports.
  • To ensure research management systems will allow continued analysis and co-ordination of the North West Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) data flow and amalgamation with local Trust data to ensure accuracy.
  • Contribute to the production of annual reports and R&I reviews.
