Job Description
We are seeking an Independent Oversight Inspector to provide effective independent internal challenge, ensuring increased regulator confidence in UUK's safe, environmentally responsible, and secure operations. This role reports to the Head of Independent Oversight and involves assessing the adequacy and implementation of the site's arrangements.

Responsibilities
- Conduct programmed or ad hoc surveillance and interventions to ensure regulatory compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Advise on the readiness of the licensee to commence or continue activities, including the release of Hold Points.
- Review the effectiveness of assurance models such as self-verification, audits, and inspections.
- Maintain regulatory compliance through liaison with regulatory bodies.
- Benchmark performance with other site licensees and identify good practices.
- Gather intelligence to inform audit and inspection priorities.
- Produce periodic reports on the activities of the Independent Assurance function.
- Recommend proportionate actions to enforce standards.
- Attend safety meetings to assure governance arrangements.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in the nuclear industry or other high-hazard regulated industries.
- Proven ability to influence change and drive performance improvements.
- Experience interacting with all levels within an organization and with external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of nuclear, environmental, chemo-toxic, transport, safeguards, and security regulations.
- Understanding of UK nuclear operator requirements and regulatory enforcement models.
- Knowledge of site operations, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Investigation techniques and root-cause analysis skills.
- Strong planning and program management abilities.
- Knowledge of procurement support requirements.
