Job Summary

As an AFHE Networked Control Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for overseeing the execution of fueling system maintenance, modifications, and installation projects worldwide. In this role, you will maintain 20+ sites' automated systems where controllers, sensors, and actuators communicate over a network, blending control theory with IT networking to manage complexities like delays and data flow for efficiency in industrial fluid smart systems.

The Networked Control Systems Engineer will need skills in control systems (PLCs, HMIs), networking (routers, security), and programming (Python for automation) to handle communication imperfections and ensure reliable performance, with experience in Fuel or Water/wastewater industries. This role is crucial in supporting the Global Readiness & Sustainment of the United States Military and its allies, ensuring that systems meet and exceed all standards. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to high-quality work and operational excellence. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Successfully provide phone support to field technicians to resolve issues remotely.
  • Travel state‑side and internationally up to 75% in support of training, preventative & corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot server stack hardware errors, including hard drive failures, recover and manage Veeder‑Root failures.
  • Monitor system performance, data integrity and communication health to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct backup operations to the extent of being able to fully restore the system on loss of data.
  • Document all steps and procedures used to resolve any issues.
  • Conduct operator training on system usage as needed.
  • Report status updates to Operations Managers.
  • Attend and contribute to program tier meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Veeam and other historian software.
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft SQL server and Veeder Root systems.
  • Familiar with ring‑server setups.
  • 6+ years of experience with complex software systems to include: Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Support, Test and Evaluation, and Logistics support.
  • Working knowledge of server rack with RAID array architecture, of industrial control software (specifically Wonderware in ArchestrA System Platform), SCADA system configuration, database management and HMI setup using thick clients.
  • Experience with control system networking architecture to support a SCADA system and HMIs within a secure air‑gapped environment.
  • Have or ability to pass / obtain NACLC security background check, security clearance, government CAC.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) effectively for daily administrative tasks and project support.
  • Proficiency in time management, including managing correspondence and priority scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSE or related Software Engineering degree from an accredited university, or commensurate experience.
  • Prefer certified for Windows 2012 or newer.
  • Prefer background experience with Dells or Stratus servers.
  • 5+ years of experience in support of Automated Fuel Handling or Water / Waste‑Water equipment within an air gap environment.
