Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a highly strategic User Experience Designer - Service Design to lead complex system changes in a hybrid contract role. This position requires advanced proficiency in UX research methodologies and demonstrated expertise in service design and design thinking. The candidate will be responsible for conducting ethnographic research, creating user journey maps, and providing solutions to systemic issues. This 10-month contract is based in Newcastle, UK, with hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in User Experience (UX) Research methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Service Design Thinking and Design Thinking practices.
  • Strong background in System Designs and the ability to influence technical and strategic roadmaps.
  • Proven ability to manage team decisions, mentor colleagues, and act as a Subject Matter Expert.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced ethnographic research to identify true user needs and pain points.
  • Interpret and synthesize human insights while balancing strategic business inputs.
  • Create detailed User Journey Maps and facilitate the development of Service Blueprints.
  • Plan and lead workshops to gather insights, align teams, and foster collaboration.
  • Provide expert-level solutions to complex systemic changes across departments.
  • Develop prototypes and conduct usability testing to validate design concepts.
