Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking an Electronic Design Engineer to develop integrated hardware solutions through design and validation. The role demands expertise in electronic and electrical engineering, with responsibilities including designing with various interfaces and ensuring compliance with EMC standards. Experience in full engineering lifecycle processes and production of design/test specifications is essential. The role offers hybrid working arrangements across sites in Reading and Glasgow.

Qualifications

• Strong relevant experience in electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical design.
• Experience designing and specifying sub-assemblies for 19” racks.
• Full engineering lifecycle experience including Capture, Design, Implementation, Test.

Responsibilities

• Satisfy HW requirement set through design, development, and test activities.
• Implement hardware architecture in physical and electrical form.
• Support Manufacturing and Procurement during the build phase.
• Define Design Proving / Hardware Test Specifications.
• Define EMC and Environmental Test Specifications.

Skills

General Electronic and Electrical Engineering

COTS AC and DC LV power supplies

Designing with PCI, RS485/232, Hotlink and Ethernet interfaces

Designing cables and harness assemblies

Understanding of cable screening methods

Designing to meet EMC and environmental standards

Education

Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering
