The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HVAC Project Engineer to join our established Building Services / HVAC contracting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management, coordination, and delivery of a variety of HVAC installation and refurbishment projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

This role requires a professional with a minimum of five years of demonstrable project delivery experience specifically gained within a building services or HVAC contracting environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Project Execution : Manage all phases of HVAC installation projects, from initial contract award and design review through to commissioning, handover, and final account settlement.
  • Contract Management : Administer project contracts, managing scope, variations, and client expectations to ensure project profitability.
  • Financial Control : Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, managing procurement, cost forecasting, and subcontractor payments.
  • Design Coordination : Liaise effectively with design teams, consultants, and clients. Experience with the Design and Build (D&B) process is highly beneficial, including an ability to review, interpret, and contribute to technical specifications and drawings.
  • Team Leadership : Coordinate and supervise site teams, specialist subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring efficient resource allocation and a high standard of workmanship.
  • Health & Safety : Ensure strict adherence to all site-specific and company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and statutory regulations.
  • Quality Assurance : Implement quality control procedures and manage the project commissioning and testing phases to guarantee system performance meets specifications.
  • Stakeholder Communication : Serve as the main point of contact for the client, project stakeholders, and internal management, providing regular progress reports.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of continuous, relevant project management or engineering experience gained working directly for a Building Services or HVAC Contractor.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering HVAC-focused projects (e.g., commercial office fit-outs, industrial installations, plant room refurbishments).
  • Strong technical understanding of core HVAC systems, including ventilation, air conditioning, heating (boilers / plant), and associated controls.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, including experience with contract negotiation, variation management, and cost control.
  • Demonstrable ability read, interpret, and produce technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Valid relevant professional certification (e.g., SMSTS, IOSH) is highly desirable.
Desirable Attributes
  • Direct experience managing projects under a Design and Build (D&B) contract model.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field).
  • Familiarity with relevant UK building regulations and standards.
