Role Overview

The post holder will be responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of mental health awareness and wellbeing training programmes, with a particular focus on reducing stigma associated with mental health for staff and managers across the organisation. The role will lead on the Prevail Mental Health Programme, delivering training to all staff, including new starters, and ensuring content remains current, evidence‑based, and aligned with best practice. In addition, the post holder will design and deliver a range of HR training programmes, including leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and attendance management. Training will be informed by organisational priorities and tailored to meet the needs of individual directorates. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation to analyse workforce data, identify learning needs, and develop training solutions aligned with the corporate strategy and strategic people plans. The post holder will also contribute to the development and implementation of the agency‑wide HR People Plan, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and workforce priorities. Through this work, the role supports the organisation's Wellbeing Strategy, promoting a culture of inclusivity, openness and resilience.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver HR training, engaging with stakeholders and analysing data to ensure fit for purpose learning and development products.
  • Undertake research and source external resources to supplement the training package, considering external trends from other sectors. Work with external partners to maintain up to date knowledge of best practice and in collaboration on training programmes.
  • Adapt training to diverse participant needs. Balancing educational objectives with participants wellbeing when delivering sensitive material by embedding safeguarding principles and trauma‑informed practices into the training.
  • Evaluate feedback and business data to understand the Reaction, Learning, Behaviour and Results of the learning and development products.
  • Visibly role model positive behaviours, leadership, honesty, authenticity and commitment; providing challenge when these are not displayed. Maintaining high levels of confidentiality for sensitive learning content.
Qualifications
  • Designing and delivering HR training, working with stakeholders and using data to shape learning that meets organisational needs.
  • Analysing and evaluating data to inform decision‑making.
  • Adapting training for diverse audiences while delivering sensitive content in a safe, supportive and trauma‑informed way.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills to support organisational priorities and objectives.
  • Experience of delivering HR training programmes, including leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and attendance management.
  • Ability to work at least 35 hours per week and meet hybrid working expectations.
Working Hours, Office Attendance and Travel

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non‑contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home‑based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Occasional travel to other DVLA sites may be required to deliver training. This may involve overnight stays, and advance notice will be provided.
