HR Advisor - Interim Project Role

Location: Barnsley
Contract: Fixed-term until 28 February 2026
Hours: 36 per week

About the Opportunity

We're working with a leading education provider in Barnsley who is undergoing an exciting period of transformation. They are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team on an interim basis and play a key role in supporting a major merger project. This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on complex change initiatives. You'll be the go-to person for HR advice and guidance, ensuring compliance and best practice across all areas of HR.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Merger Support: Prepare HR data and documentation for due diligence, lead consultation meetings, and manage TUPE transfer queries.
  • HR Advisory: Provide expert advice on performance management, absence, employee relations, and staff wellbeing.
  • Case Management: Handle disciplinary, grievance, capability, and probation reviews, ensuring processes are fair and compliant.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Oversee recruitment campaigns, participate in interviews, and ensure smooth induction processes.
  • Absence Management: Monitor short- and long-term absence, liaise with Occupational Health, and support return-to-work plans.
  • Performance & Development: Coordinate appraisals and contribute to learning and development initiatives.
  • Policy & Compliance: Maintain accurate HR records, issue contracts promptly, and ensure adherence to GDPR and College policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with payroll, contribute to policy development, and deliver HR projects for the Executive Leadership Team.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven HR advisory experience, ideally within education or a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and TUPE processes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
