Job description

Job Title: HR Administrator
Location: London - on site
Rate: £15.00 per hour
Hours: As agreed - fixed hours (9:00AM-3:30PM)

About the Role

We are seeking a conscientious, organised and confidential HR Administrator to join our school's administration team. This is a key support role within a busy educational environment, supporting all aspects of HR and people administration to help the team run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the full recruitment process - drafting job adverts and job descriptions/person specifications, posting adverts, handling applications, short-listing, organising interviews, and issuing offer letters.
  • Carry out pre-employment checks (e.g. background/DBS, right to work, references) and maintain the Single Central Record (SCR) or equivalent staff compliance register.
  • Manage and maintain accurate electronic and paper personnel records for all staff - including on boarding, leaving staff, changes in employment status.
  • Coordinate staff inductions, on boarding and exit procedures, and any relevant mandatory training (e.g. safeguarding / compliance training) or documentation.
  • Provide general HR administrative support - respond to HR queries, manage communications (email, mail, HR inbox), support payroll paperwork where required, and assist with staff absence / leave documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management / HR Manager to ensure HR policies and compliance with relevant legislation (including safeguarding, data protection, right to work, etc.) are maintained.
Person Specification / What We're Looking For
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills - ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and prioritise workload under time pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and comfortable with HR information systems / databases.
  • Attention to detail, especially around compliance, record-keeping, safeguarding and data protection.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team; supportive, flexible, and responsive to the needs of a busy school environment.
  • Previous admin or HR experience desirable - school-based experience a plus but not essential.
