HOUSING SUPPORT WORKER at TARGET HOUSING

Location: S60, 1BY

Salary: £25,715 per annum (rises to £27,025 per annum after 12 months, and to £27,955 per annum after 24 months (pro-rata))
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Housing Support Worker to join our dedicated Sheffield Offenders team.

Job Purpose

To provide intensive housing management support to vulnerable individuals with the intention of delivering a high-quality support programme that promotes client independence; providing a successful and sustainable move on and other measurable outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and expanding supported accommodation project within Sheffield, that supports individuals with offending backgrounds, or at the risk of offending.

Duties and Responsibilities
Housing Management
  • To undertake appropriate assessments for potential and actual residents and to review and update these as required.
  • To complete all documentation including tenure agreements, property inventory, disclosure forms and an application for housing benefit with residents to support and sustain a successful tenancy.
  • Maximise rent collection, ensuring successful housing and other welfare benefit claims are submitted and maintained.
  • Monitor the maintenance of properties and report any repairs required to our maintenance team.
Support
  • Maintain contact with tenants in accordance with the requirements of the service.
  • Design and deliver an effective support plan that meets tenants individual needs and results in a successful move on into independent living.
  • Actively engage with tenants in issues and decisions that affect them.
  • Develop professional relationships with a range of external agencies that supports the on-going needs of tenants.
  • Develop a move-on plan for residents at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for independent or more appropriate housing.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of providing support to vulnerable people in a housing environment
  • Experience of working with individuals who have multiple and complex needs, in prison and on release
  • The ability to develop constructive relationships with offenders
  • Knowledge of the Welfare Benefits System
  • An understanding of the Judiciary System in the UK
  • Experience in risk assessment and support planning
  • Basic IT skills suitable for an office environment
