Housing Support Officer

Step into a meaningful contract role supporting women and children fleeing domestic abuse as a Housing Support Officer. This position offers structured working hours, a supportive team environment and the potential to go permanent.

You'll be working within a specialist refuge service, focusing on safety, recovery, tenancy sustainment and emotional support.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Housing Support Officer who can remain empathetic, professional and confident in a women-only accommodation setting, providing both practical housing guidance and trauma‑informed support.

In this position as a Housing Support Officer, you will be:

  • Supporting residents within a women-only supported accommodation service
  • Developing support and safety plans tailored to individual needs
  • Delivering one‑to‑one and group support to build confidence and wellbeing
  • Supporting customers with benefits, money management and housing‑related matters
  • Ensuring all safeguarding and risk protocols are followed at all times
  • Working alongside specialist domestic abuse services and partner agencies

Role Details
  • Contract: 4‑month agency contract with potential extension and possible temp‑to‑perm
  • Hours: 37 per week
  • Rota: Monday to Friday, 9am‑7pm (on rotation) plus on‑call standby
  • Location: County Durham
  • Rate: £17‑£19 per hour (umbrella)
  • Salary FTE: £24,955 plus bank holiday and call‑out rates
  • End date: 31 January 2026 (potential extension to March 2026)
