Main Duties
The position holder will oversee the delivery of high quality person-centred, holistic support to clients, enabling them to develop and move on to live their lives independently. They will manage supported accommodation, ensuring properties are compliant with health and safety and legislation. They will plan, co-ordinate and manage day to day service delivery, setting clear standards and targets, monitoring work quality and providing supervision to team leaders and administrators.
The service manager provides leadership that fosters a positive, respectful and inclusive environment, offering guidance, training and performance management to the team leaders and administrators while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the accommodation service. They promote and encourage a culture that works towards empowerment and recovery, whilst also valuing equality and diversity, proactively targeting levels of independence appropriate for each client.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee management of the housing team.
- Work with Facilities Manager to ensure housing stock is compliant with health and safety and legislation.
- Actively promote the service with potential referrers and commissioners via presentations at team meetings and visiting other services.
- Lead on notices and evictions where necessary, ensuring all has been done to avoid the eviction and prevent homelessness.
- Support the team in responding to any crisis, following up with debriefs and support as per policy.
- Oversee legal compliance of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and Support-Exempt Accommodation (SEA), ensuring all HMO properties are licensed per the Housing Act 2004 and relevant regulations, maintaining up-to-date records.
- Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure staff understand and act on safeguarding responsibilities for vulnerable adults; review safeguarding referrals and share learning.
- Supervise staff regularly (every 6 weeks), providing guidance, support, appraisals and probationary reviews.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience of working in the mental health care sector.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Proven track record of working in a care/support role (min 2yrs).
- Experience in dealing with individuals with challenging behaviours.
- Able to plan, co-ordinate and work under pressure, whilst remaining professional.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literate and experienced with monitoring and evaluation.
- Evidence of continued training and personal development.
- A valid UK driving licence and business insurance.
- Willingness to contribute to on-call rota.

Person Specification – Experience
- Previous experience of working in the mental health care sector.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in dealing with individuals with challenging behaviours.
