Academics are working in partnership with a small, welcoming primary school - situated in Potters Bar - within a friendly local federation to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

The HLTA role

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support high-quality teaching and learning
  • Leading and monitoring targeted interventions and evaluating pupil progress
  • Supporting, directing, and guiding other teaching assistants
  • Working with individuals and small groups of pupils, including those with SEND, to raise attainment and promote independence
  • Delivering lessons and leading learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
The ideal HLTA will
  • Have experience supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEND
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently using initiative and creativity
  • Thrive in a small, collaborative team environment and demonstrate flexibility and a positive sense of humour
  • Possess strong communication and organisational skills
  • Able to commute to Potters Bar

This permanent position is available on either a full-time or part-time basis, starting January 2026, with salary paid at H4-H5, depending on experience.
