Contract: Flexible / Temp / Ongoing / Long-term available

Overview

Want to use your PGCE and work flexibly, building connections with great schools near you? Protocol Education are looking for qualified History Teachers (non-qualified accepted at a different rate of pay) to support secondary schools near you across South Bristol and Somerset. Whether you want flexible daily supply or a longer-term role, we’ll match you with schools that fit your style, schedule, and strengths.

This is perfect if you’re an experienced teacher looking for balance, or an ECT eager to build confidence and relationships with schools. You’ll deliver engaging pre-planned History, manage classrooms with warmth and consistency, and leave a lasting impression – even when you’re just there for the day. Build positive relationships with not only students, but schools and departments; candidates who involve themselves with the wider school-community often springboard into permanent roles.

What you’ll be doing
  • Delivering pre-set History lessons across KS3 and KS4 (planning is only required if you take on a long-term role)
  • Making the curriculum engaging—whether it’s rivers, tectonic plates, or population studies
  • Managing behaviour with calm confidence and a positive approach
  • Supporting students’ progress while maintaining a professional, approachable style
  • Feeding back to permanent staff to ensure continuity
What we’re looking for
  • UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience teaching History in UK secondary schools
  • Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a good sense of humour (essential in supply!)
  • A reliable and pro-active work ethic; an eagerness to support schools who need you
Why join Protocol?
  • Weekly pay through PAYE - no hidden deductions
  • Guaranteed work agreements for consistent income
  • FREE CPD training including Team Teach + Thrive (supporting student wellbeing)
  • Social events like bowling and pizza nights
  • Termly awards celebrating our brilliant educators
  • Ongoing, friendly support from a consultant who knows your patch
  • £50 bonus when you refer a teacher or TA
