A rare opportunity has arisen in Salford for a Highly Specialist Lead Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Adult Learning Disabilities Team. In this role, you\'ll take the clinical lead, delivering expert therapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment for clients with complex needs, including communication and swallowing difficulties, across various community settings. You\'ll also guide junior staff, influence service development, and benefit from access to award-winning leadership training, ongoing peer support, and supervision.

Main duties of the job
  • To lead the SLT service within the Learning Disabilities Health Professionals team.
  • To provide as part of the multidisciplinary team highly specialist therapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Adults with Learning Disabilities who have highly complex and/or chronic presentation in a range of community locations. This includes working with clients with communication and swallowing difficulties
  • To assess and treat own caseload of clients maintaining own records as an autonomous practitioner
  • To supervise SLT and Total Communication colleagues as part of the team support structure.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses and CPD
Knowledge
  • Experience of working with Adults with Learning Disabilities.
  • Experience devising and delivering training.
  • To demonstrate specialist knowledge in clinical fields underpinned by current evidence-based practice (e.g. learning disabilities, dysphagia)
  • Knowledge of a range of appropriate assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.
