Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and driven Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Therapies Orthopaedics Team at Northwick Park and Ealing Hospitals. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist therapy services within the Orthopaedic team and contribute to the wider inpatient therapy service.

The successful applicant will have significant band 6 experience in orthopaedic occupational therapy, demonstrate leadership and management qualities, and have the opportunity to develop hand therapy skills and work with the outpatient hand therapy team.

We are committed to delivering high-quality patient care, education and research, and will support leadership and clinical development to facilitate service improvement and integration with community services and other providers.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess and treat own caseload and provide a highly specialist orthopaedic occupational therapy service to patients.
  • Work as a member of the MDT, assessing and treating patients with highly complex disability related to orthopaedic conditions and maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Act as clinical lead for the orthopaedic occupational therapy service.
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with complex physical, sensory, perceptual and cognitive problems within inpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with the orthopaedic MDT and cross-site leads to support development of the service.
  • Work with patients, carers and colleagues in health and social services to ensure effective service planning, policy and delivery for the patient group.
  • Contribute to the management of the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service, including prioritising referrals to orthopaedic inpatients and allocating patients.
  • Develop and appraise team members (band 6, band 5, therapy assistants and students) and provide ongoing training to staff, other healthcare professionals and students.

Education/ Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of service development and deputising for the team lead
