Job description

Salary: Scale 5 - 28,361 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time)
Contract: Permanent

We are working on behalf of a secondary school to recruit a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and well-established SEND department.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a meaningful difference to their school experience.

Role
  • Work directly with students who have specific learning needs and/or high levels of anxiety related to school
  • Act as a key worker for identified students, providing consistent support and advocacy
  • Liaise closely with the SENCO, the school's Mental Health Lead, and external professionals
  • Attend and contribute to relevant multi‑agency meetings
  • Support teachers with the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities
  • Deliver whole‑class and small group support across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, as required
Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a recognised HLTA qualification (essential)
  • Has experience supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Is confident working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills
  • Is calm, resilient and committed to inclusive education
